Is Obama's lead in the polls forcing McCain further right and against America's interests?

I heard he was considering Tom Ridge for VP. I am worried that Obama's zombies will force him into many of the same failed policies of Bush. I know McCain will win, but will it be the real Moderate McCain or a McCain who was forced to appease the people who have ruined the Republican party - evangelicals?
