What does your psat score mean?

No one seems to give a direct answer except that it predicts your SAT score. All I want to know is how are you supposed to know if your score really means anything, or if your just lost in the mes? My scores are in the 50-60 range nd my percentiles are high. that doesn't make sense if the 50 scores are just average
