The street represents your life path. The car represents you dependence on something. Since you were not driving it and it causes an accident this means that something in your life is out of control. The guy who got hit by the car is actually you. You have or feel like something in your life is going to be a disaster and that it will be very painful and you will wish you were dead-this is figuratively speaking (not actual). Something is going on in your life right now that has you "hanging on by a thread" and you are very uncomfortable facing it.
